My Music Maniac College Boyfriend

Friday, November 25th, 2011

In college I dated a kind of nerdy dude who was really, and I mean really, into music. He mixed his own music and had the biggest track library I had ever seen. He was the guy who could put together great presentations for class, complete with soundtracks he had produced himself. I didn’t mind listening to his stuff, but there wasn’t an aspect of his life that he couldn’t put to music or didn’t put to music and at times it felt like I was in a Broadway production because of the way he chose to communicate. I’d say something that he didn’t agree with and he pressed a button on his computer and some sad music would play. If he was upset with me for any reason, he pressed a button and some ominous tune would play. It didn’t take long to realize that we never were more than a couple of steps away from his tracks and he rarely actually talked with me. I moved on the from the “Tunemeister,” as my friends called him, but last I heard he was doing quite well for himself in the movie industry.

She Takes Singing Lessons

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Hal was a very nice guy, Mary thought to herself. She would never say that to him, because guys got really annoyed when you said that to them. She didn’t know why, they certainly didn’t like it when you said, “Boy are you a jerk.” Still, she suspected that telling her accompanist that he was a nice guy would be the perfect way to awkward up her singing lessons. He was always willing to help her. He would even stay late after school so that she could get extra practice. Mary wondered if maybe he had a crush on her. She wondered if she had a crush on him. That would also make a huge awkward mess out of her spare time. Why is that knowing that you liked someone and finding out they liked you complicated your whole life? It seems to be the easiest thing ever, but it wasn’t.

I Love House Music

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

I really love house music. It just relaxes me and puts me in the mood to groove. I want it to remain underground and not go mainstream, but it is so popular nowadays that I don’t even know if it can avoid going mainstream. I think it is very important for people like me to try to preserve it the way it is because once it goes mainstream, nobody is going to recognize it for what it is. I often think that there are so many people who are trying to make all music sound the same. Sadly, they are the people who are the richest. It is really too bad that original artists and such cannot get a break because of these people! I think that someone should call these people out and tell them to stop ruining our music. It is just something that we would like to preserve for the generations to come.

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 – Review Comparison to Bose

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

When searching for information on a good quality computer speaker system for your desktop, it always comes down to what’s offered for the best sound quality , performance, and who offers the best bottom line price. Another important factor in decision making, at least in my case, is the shipping cost, and warranty details. After getting burned once with a rather large shipping cost, that wasn’t planned or budgeted, I always watch for any back end surprise expenses.

There are certainly many systems to choose from, the most noticeable are the major brand names you all know, such as Sony, Harmon, Bose, and many more, clearly a shoppers market for just about anything desired. I’ll narrow down my search and findings that helped me make a decision on who offers the best value. It came down to just two brand names, which one of, I didn’t know anything about, until now, and that is the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker system. You just don’t see the billion dollar market campaign, and brand name in flashing lights, which now explains many things. The second are the Bose Speakers, certainly the “Cadillac” of Speakers, with a higher price tag included.

The Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Computer Speakers performed surprisingly clear, with crisp sound quality. I found these just awesome. I also found they are a USA company with a solid reputation, been around for years, and another added bonus, excellent technical customer service, a real plus. I actually called them to see how well they responded, asked a few questions and was very well received.

After the initial customer service person, I then started with some real technical questions, and was transferred to one of the specialists, which at that point every single question and detail was addressed, plus much more technical information provided, many items were new to me and supported the Klipsch product line, this I was impressed with . What I liked was this straight forward conversion was friendly, and not sales driven to drive a consumer to purchase, but the information was solid, and did help me make a sound decision later. Now this was very nice, a company who stands behind their product and service, clearly a people driven company as the employees were happy, obviously a good operation, people well treated, including customers …!

The only drawback, or “con” with Klipsch Promedia , compared to Bose is when you turn up the sound past 75% , the bass-sub woofer will just very slightly distort . I notice it, most people won’t. This is the only area where Bose out performs Klipsch, however I decided I could live with it, plus very rare I turn volume this high, the decibel level would knock surrounding pictures down..! I enjoy the lower level volume with crystal clear sound performance, and the great rumble sub woofer, and that’s exactly what Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Computer Speakers deliver..! I did want to mention, when it comes to Bose, the name speakes for itself, in fact it is real simple to just go out, rest assured you will get excellent quality sound performance, just get them, that easy. Guess I am budget oriented, and like to shop for things with best value, and along the way learn new things, and sometimes just get lucky and discover a hidden gem.

The bottom line that really helped me make the decision was the price, like in any case. Usually that says it all, Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Speakers did pass the sound performance test to meet my expectations. I liked the fact they have “in house designed and developed ” technology, integrated into their systems, and it seems to deliver the performance that really surprised me.

The price compared to Bose, is over $100 less, (says alot about who pays for the billion dollar market expense of huge brand names) which was a bit of a shock..! Next to great performance, far less cost, and the added bonus of great customer service with technical support, that made my decision, and very pleased today with Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Computer Speaker System . And not to forget, free shipping, with a solid warranty, really sealed the purchase.

As references go, we all have opinions, and a brand preference which is good. This is just one reference point, to save anyone looking, some valuable time. If you need more brand name comparisons for reference with other products, be sure to check Klipsch Promedia 2.1 Computer Spreaker System, where you can scan hundreds of “real people” reviews, many current , 2011, and many go back for years.

We all look for the product negatives I suppose, but the Klipsch Promedia Speakers really made me dig for the negatives, which I honestly had a very difficulty finding, so I read them all, years of them on a hunt I guess you could say. I also recommend comparing other Klipsch products like the 5.1 speaker system for parallel comparison with many other brand named companies with their products, this helps a lot, and again, I read them all and hope this saves people time in the research for the best value in the marketplace.

Most People Can’t Learn to Play Guitar and Sing

Sunday, April 17th, 2011

It is hard to come by a person who both knows how to play the guitar and knows how to sing well. These two skills are often shown off at the same by but by two different people. Most people, after all, choose one or the other to focus on. People just starting to learn to sing rarely ever consider learning to play guitar right away as well, though many people who learn to play guitar also put some focus on singing. You may find that this is a common trend, even in commercial bands as many guitarists can sing either decently or well, while many vocalists cannot play the guitar. Learning to play guitar and sing is tough, and most people simply don’t have the patience or inherent skill to do so. However, it is still very much worth learning if you love to perform or simply want to try your hand at something that most people can’t pull off.

Guitar Chords and Tablature

Monday, February 21st, 2011

If you search online long enough, you’ll find that there are some certain sites that host large image files that contain almost every chord progression there is on the guitar. Though it might take some getting used on how to understand how it works. With the advancement of current technology of today, we are now able to make putting nifty features on their website. For example, Ultimate-guitar has a certain web plug-in that enables you to hover over a chord and you’ll be presented with a diagram on the fingering patterns on the screen. This cool addition not only gives you a more convenient way to know the chords but it’s a heck of a lot way easier than opening a new window and looking for that one complicated chord. Now that you have sort of chart diagram in front of you, you can have a sort of reference board that you can look at during one of your guitar lessons.

Beethoven – Do You Like His Music?

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

Most people who like to play the piano begun by learning a few pieces composed by Beethoven. I have heard of people learning Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata and a lot more by Beethoven. But which one is the best for beginners? I have been teaching how to play the piano to beginners for the past couple of years and I often start the lessons by teaching them to learn Fur Elise, although the sheet music is seldom easy to find. Luckily I found a good link, Fur Elise sheet music, which contains many of the best versions of the song.

The reason why there isn’t a single version of Fur Elise (Beethoven wrote it, after all) is twofold. First of all, Beethoven never stored the original copy so it’s lost. It might have been different from what we hear today! Second is that new versions pop up due to the needs of the pianists. Some people prefer easier/harder sheet music depending on their skill level and available time.

How You Can Learn to Rap

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

While rap might seem simple enough to perform, there are many mistakes that first-time performers commit that are common among most of them. Not being able to keep up with the rhythm is one of the primary problems for those who are starting out, and it helps greatly if you are able to anticipate the words that are coming up next so that you are prepared to deliver them just as the music cues in. Another helpful hint is being able to gather one’s breath properly before delivering the lyrics as you learn to rap so that you don’t run out of breath in the middle of delivering a line. There are many ways of practicing what you learn, and it is a great advantage if you have an iPod or other mp3 player that you have so that you can practice your skills on the go and sing along to any rap songs on your player.

How I Improve My Guitar Skills in 3 Months

Friday, October 15th, 2010

I had been searching for a way to improve my guitar skills. I had taken a handful of lessons and didn’t want to go back to those expensive and timely private lessons. I wanted to find a program I could use at home to improve my skills, and I did find one (read about it in my learn and master guitar review).

The program I found was a DVD based course that taught you all the basics and intermediate skills of several popular styles of music including rock, blues and jazz.

I really didn’t know how much I should expect to pay for something like this so when I found a course for $150 it seemed like it wasn’t a bad deal considering I paid that much for a couple of months worth of lessons when I first started.

I skipped the first couple of lesson discs but by the 3rd disc I was cruising along with new material I hadn’t learned yet and by the 4th disc I was twice as far along as when I started. All in all by 3 months time I took a break as I was very satisfied with the skills I had developed.

Ibanez Rg — Before You Obtain A Product, Here Are Things You Should Know

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

You’re now all set up to acquire that Ibanez RG guitar you’ve been going on and on about. Although this is great news, make sure you don’t miss these pieces of wisdom if you want to be content with your purchase…

Have you taken the time to settle on what use the object will perform? Instruments have areas and activities they are built for. So as a selective buyer you should make sure that the device you’re picking gives you what you want at the most reasonable cost. If you would like to utilize this together with pre-existing instruments, then you need to be certain you’ll NOT diminish function by introducing an item that belongs to another league.

It’s really NOT a sharp choice to purchase a $4,000 studio mic if all you have is a $50 pre. Top-of-the-line devices work best with other first-class devices. Purchase a device that conforms to your current skill. You will squander the output of professional equipment if you’ve NOT got sufficient skills to utilize it. Apart from the knowledge that you’ll NOT get the optimum performance out of it, you could simply destroy it because you didn’t know enough.

Lastly, what’s your budget? Don’t go over it. Don’t allow anybody to say to you you can’t get another one like it in the future when you have a bigger budget – More awesome gear will be available eventually for sure.

Have a young piano player? Try this for a daily routine

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

If you’ve got a young piano player in the house, no matter when they started learning I’ll be sure to say that one of the major challenges you have is getting them onto the piano to do their practice. The young musician will be really assisted by having a variety of Music Practice Charts and printable stickers available that can help them get that extrinsic motivation that they need. Once they have that extrinsic motivation and have used it for a little while you’ll find that the intrinsic motivation will come on – they will want to do it, and they will want to achieve on the piano so that you will be proud of their accomplishments. Once you’ve got them going schedule regular “concerts” in the lounge room – and sometimes an audience of one person is all that is required. Have them perform properly, and make sure that you give the performance 100% of your attention. Don’t be tempted to “multi-task” and do something while you are listening to them. This is very important as this is where the motivation will come from.
